Career Record:
Karan began his aviation career in India as a pilot and thereafter he joined Air France operations at New Delhi in 1972. In 1977 he joined KLM in the Middle east where he continued in various positions until 1986. Following this period, Karan’s career moved to KLM North America as relief manager Canada and then station manager, Toronto. In 2001, Karan was appointed as the Director for Ground Services (Canada and Northern U.S.A.), which, following mergers of KLM and Air France led to his appointment as Director for KLM Ground Services (Canada) and first joint station manager Air France-KLM. Karan’s final appointment was Director Stations for Toronto and Western Canada for Air France – KLM, a position he held until his retirement. In the latter position, he was actively engaged in organising high-profile events aimed at enhancing the image of the Airline Community amongst the public at large.
Special Tasks:
During Karan’s tenure as a senior executive with KLM and subsequently Air France – KLM in Canada, he also held various positions on the Board of Directors of the Board of Airline Representatives of Canada, including as Vice Chair from 2005 to 2015.
Currently, Karan serves as BAR Canada’s Director of Communications and Public Relations.

Karan’s responsibilities and positions throughout his career have included several experiences of which the following list is just a brief recap:
- Providing support to various countries in North, South America and Caribbean with assistance in station openings and Cut-Overs.
- Representing KLM on the Board of Directors of Aircraft Support Services Corporation at Toronto airport.
- Representing KLM on the financial committee for Terminal three at Toronto airport.
- Overseeing MALEV’s operations in YYZ in 2003.
- Crisis Managing the accident of Air France flight at YYZ Airport in 2005.
- Overseeing KLM crew scheduling for North America and DCS training for several countries in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
